Google published its March Gemini Drop on March 27, rolling out a set of updates designed to deepen Gemini's integration into daily life and to make it easier for users of competing AI services to switch. The most strategically notable feature is the ability to transfer AI memories and chat history from other providers in just a few clicks, a direct shot at ChatGPT and Claude's sticky user bases.

The update also brought Gemini 3.1 Flash Live, which Google described as its best audio model to date, fast and sharp enough to sustain real conversational flow. The model is live in over 200 countries via Search Live and Gemini Live.

Separately, Google expanded Search Live — a feature that allows back-and-forth dialogue using voice or a camera feed — to every market where AI Mode is available, completing a rollout to more than 200 countries and territories.

Personal Intelligence, the feature that connects Gemini to a user's Gmail, Google Photos, and YouTube history to generate personalized recommendations, expanded to AI Mode in Search, Gemini in Chrome, and the Gemini app across the US. Users retain full control over which accounts and data sources Gemini can access.

For music creation, Google introduced Lyria 3 Pro, which extends generated tracks to up to three minutes and allows subscribers to compose with detailed control over intros, verses, and bridges. The update also included upgrades to Google Maps, where a conversational feature called Ask Maps can handle complex questions and connect to reservations, and enhanced AI tools across Google Workspace apps for AI Ultra and Pro subscribers.

The March Pixel Drop expanded Circle to Search capabilities and added Gemini-powered restaurant recommendations within messaging apps.
