Google Search rolls out new AI Mode and AI Overviews link and context features
Google says it’s updating AI Mode and AI Overviews to surface more links inline, highlight subscription content, and add link previews and community perspectives.
Google announced updates to Search’s AI Mode and AI Overviews intended to make it easier to explore the web from AI-generated responses. The changes include more inline links placed next to relevant text, desktop hover previews for those links, and end-of-answer suggestions that point to additional angles and deeper reads.
Google also says it will label and highlight links from users’ news subscriptions within these AI experiences, and it’s adding curated previews of “community perspectives” drawn from public online discussions with contextual metadata. Google described the rollout as in progress and framed the updates as part of ongoing testing and iteration.
