Anthropic Signs Multibillion-Dollar Cloud Deal With CoreWeave to Power Claude
The agreement gives Anthropic a new tranche of Nvidia-powered data center capacity in the US, as demand for Claude continues to surge past a $30 billion annual run rate.
Anthropic has entered a multiyear agreement with CoreWeave to supply the AI startup with cloud computing capacity, the companies announced Friday, April 10. CoreWeave shares surged more than 10 percent in trading following the news.
Under the deal, Anthropic will run workloads for its Claude family of AI models at production scale on CoreWeave's platform, drawing on a variety of Nvidia chip architectures housed in US data centers.
CoreWeave CEO Michael Intrator told Bloomberg that the contract is worth multiple billions of dollars, though neither company disclosed precise financial terms. The infrastructure is expected to come online later in 2026, with a phased rollout across multiple data center locations and potential to expand over time.
The announcement came just one day after CoreWeave disclosed a separate $21 billion expanded agreement with Meta to supply AI cloud capacity through December 2032. Together, the two deals pushed CoreWeave's contracted commitments with Meta alone to $35 billion.
With the Anthropic addition, nine of the ten largest AI model providers now use CoreWeave's platform, with xAI the sole remaining exception.
Anthropic had already struck a long-term deal with Google and Broadcom for approximately 3.5 gigawatts of TPU-based compute capacity starting in 2027, tripling its prior consumption of about one gigawatt. The CoreWeave agreement diversifies Anthropic's infrastructure base further as the company works to support customer demand following a rapid revenue acceleration that brought its annual run rate past $30 billion, up from roughly $9 billion in late 2025.
